I am so glad that there is someone else in my immediate circle of relationships that now understands what it feels like to know that your day is unproductive, incomplete and intellectually unfulfilled until you’ve watched at least two episodes of The West Wing.

I do realize, Sarah. I do realize what I have done to you. And I’m not sorry. I’m not sorry for making you a more fully realized, engaged citizen while at the same time entertaining you with some of the most well-written characters in TV history.

And this is the single most humbling moment of Jenn’s life - posting this ridiculous picture on the internet. I will be uploading attractive pictures of myself shortly to counter balance any disgust you might be feeling at this moment.

You have to admit, coming up with a costume idea that allowed my Halloween-adverse husband to wear his normal clothes was pretty genius.

I remember the first time I saw Before Sunrise. It was 1999, nearly 5 years after the movie had been released. It came on TV on Friday night and I watched it in my bedroom, curled up in a chair. I realized, as I was watching it, that this was MY MOVIE, it was affecting me in ways I didn’t know were possible. As the credits rolled, I thought I’d cry that it was over. Then, as channels like USA and TBS are wont to do, they started playing it again right away. I scrambled to find a blank VHS tape (because we still did things like that back then), and crammed it in and pressed record just as the movie started over again. I watched it again that night, and then wore out the VHS tape in the years that followed.

The summer I was out in LA, (otherwise known as the summer I met my future husband), I found out about the sequel. Not only did he, who had only been dating me for a little over two months, agree see it with me, he had actually seen and loved the original, also. We sat in the Arclight theater on the 4th of July in 2004 and watched Before Sunset, and in that moment, I knew that I hadn’t been foolish to believe in love. Before Sunrise is a movie for hopeless romantics, and I had always been proud to be one. The sequel, and the man sitting next to me, holding my hand as I watched it proved to me that I wasn’t that hopeless after all.

I might possibly be going to a fancy Halloween party in a few weeks. Considering that I haven’t gotten dressed for Halloween since Freshman Year of college when I sang on campus for “Project Pumpkin”, I am a little excited about this. I have always dreamed of being able to wear a truly gorgeous costume… like a Greek goddess or Cleopatra, or a Renaissance queen. I had a few minutes, so I thought I’d look through some pictures on the website of Charlotte’s local costume shop, where once upon a time, I rented a hoop skirt for an Old South ball. (Yes, that is code for “I was a debutante”).

I was dismayed and a little disgusted (though I suppose, not surprised) to find that the there is no section for “Women’s Costumes.” It’s just Kids, Men, and Sexy.

Really Society? Are you Kidding me with this?

This episode was perfect. I don’t know if I’ve ever been as affected by a fictional couple getting married on TV. I think the last time I felt that giddy was when Chandler proposed to Monica. And I was a lot younger, so it was different, but kind of the same. This was a more mature giddy. If that makes sense. Whatever. I loved it.
